Ok, WOWIE. I've been on overload. I think somewhere along the lines, calendar time stopped, but Daner time kept going. Ever had that feeling?? I honestly have not even logged onto my blog all week. I haven't been working, and had TOO much to do,and knew if I logged on my laundy list of things to do would come to a screeching halt. Well, I'm in the middle of formatting wedding address labels, so I'm willing to slam on the brakes.
As for updates:
I left my job on Monday. Yeah, I know. I'm in the middle of planning a wedding, my apartment lease is up May 31...meaning I guess Mr. Dunn-dee and I must be finding a home ASAP, I'm STILL working on booking my location for the wedding, and now I am jobless. In a matter of weeks, make that jobless & homeless. Livin' on Love-story of my life right now!! In the midst of all of this, that I'm sure is making your jaw drop, I'm actually not stressed. For some strange reason. Should I be? I don't know, but I never get stressed about these things. Life will continue to go on, I will find a way to make money (I mean, I do have nice legs & all! JUUUUST kidding..but it's a thought! joking!), and Mr. Dunn-dee and I will live happily ever after. I know it's not the ideal time to leave my job, but it was for the best in the long run, and we have so many other positives to look at it on our lives right now, that it's darn hard to focus on the negatives.
As for work- I was developing poor work habits, and let me tell you, I'm a HARD motivated worker, but I didn't have much respect for either my boss or my job, and often questioned the integrity of not the company I worked for, but rather the way the company was ran. I was put in situations I should have never been put in, and there was not a clear enough line between my boss and I about work conversation and personal conversation ( on his part, not mine.) I had tried to talk with him abut this before and ask for a more professional work envinronment and to keep things more business, but it was his nature to be open and talkative about his personal life, including his wife, their bank account, her affairs, and various other things I should never hear about. I did learn a lot from the job, but the fact that it was a SMALL company, meaning I was the only person in the office the majority of the time, I knew I wouldn't ever have the opportunity for advancement. I am motivated, but at the same time, need something to be motivated by. So, hopefully without me giving too much detail or giving TOO many personal details, you can see why I made the decision to leave...and hopefully make me feel a little better about it.... : ) Do you think I did the right thing?
On the bright side of things, I, of course, got right on the ball for any money making opportunites. I did have a phone interview in the phase 2 process of applying for a radio sales position here for a company that owns the majority of the radio stations in my area. I've never done "sales," and don't know much about radio sales, other than what I tried to quickly research about it before my interview yesterday. Anybody know anything about it? Thoughts? Advice? Also, I dropped my resume off at some boutiques in town. I am NOT too proud to work at a boutique and get paid hourly. Some kind of income is ALWAYS better than no income at all. PLUS, who loves a good discount on clothes?? I DO, I DO!!
Also, my mom & stepdad came to visit last weekend! YAY! It was great. Mom & I went shopping on Saturday and got SO much stuff done for the wedding. We got the sand unity vase for a whopping 7.99 at Marshalls, along with the two other vases for Mr. Dunn-dee & I to use to pour the sand into the unity vase for 5.99 each at Ross. I also found a dad-gum adorable Lilly Pulitzer woven clutch with seashells and starfish on the flap. The Caliente clutch, I believe. 30.00 buckaroos. Muy caliente if I might say so myself! It was in a big pile of clutches in a middle aisle, and it was like finding a hidden treasure. Ok, it wasn't LIKE finding a hidden treasure, it WAS finding a hidden treasure- at Marshalls!!
OHHHH, and I got two new GREAT pair of heels. Both are strappy. A dark brown platform-ish pair from Ross for 14.99, and a great strappy white pair with studs (not tacky looking, no matter how much it sounds like it- I'm generally not a white heels fan) for 16.99. I'll just have to post pictures to prove you can find great things at these places. I've already worn the dark brown pair with some destroyed cut off denim bermuda shorts and a cute white linen shirt I also got at Marshalls.
That night we all went to dinner with his parents. WHOA baby. IIIII felt like the parent, having our parents meet for the first time. I was kind of nervous, but knew they would get along great, and they did. No pictures from the night, unfortunately! Mr. Dunn-dee and I were wayyy too cute that night too, dangit! We always end up matching without planning it. He wore some navy Polo chino shorts with embroidered seagulls all over them and a white linen button up shirt, and I wore a white eyelet sleeveless shift dress with a ruffle button up bib and gold rope lace up flats. Super cute. Mom said we should forget the formal wedding run off to the beach and get married in what we had on. No thanks mom. I only get to wear a veil once, and goodness, I'm doing it!!
On Sunday, all of us- Mom, Me, Step dad, and Mr. Dunn-dee- went to Memphis to Allure Bridals so that Mom could see the wedding dresses I was debating on that I
mentioned here. The boys waited in the lobby, no worries. No peeksies for Mr. Dunn-dee. Call me old fashioned. Anyway, I ruled out the babydoll ornate dress that I had been in the running, and found another one I loved. After trying to decide between the two (one old, one new), I was pretty sure, but wanted to get an idea of what the Mr. liked. My only instructions were that he didn't like "anything prom." Let me tell you, that is about as clear as mud. I have no idea what "prom" is in his head. We hung up all the dresses in the room (racks line all the walls in the room, with a runway stage in the middle of the room) and had him pick out some he liked and then some he really didn't like. He was so nervous like he was on the spot, and didn't help too much until we gave him options. He did, though, actually stop at my number one pick, pull it out, give it a quick look at the front and back and move on. I've learned in guy world that if it gets a look, it isn't half-bad. If it doesn't get a pull out look, it's a no go. Anyway, he did say he didn't like anything with stuff all over the whole dress, or anything victorian (ie, dresses with lace overlay). So, we pulled out two that were similar to the ones I had been trying on and had him pick out which one he liked out of the two. He picked the one most similar to the dress I liked. HOORAY! However, I did say, ok, so you,say wouldn't like something like this? And pointed to the front of a book laying in there( which featured the NEW dress I had put in the running for final 2)- His exact words- "OH, definitely NO. HECK no. That's just gaudy."
Wow, decision made. PS, I have pictures of all of these dresses that I am going to post after the wedding, including the "gaudy" dress.
So, as of today, here are things off of the ole' Wedding Checklist:

Garter
All decorations, except for the aisle chair decorations for the ceremony
Ok, enough blah blah blah for now. Back to label formatting. While my eyes are uncrossed.
Happy Jobless Thursday. : )

I think you made the right decision about leaving work. I left a job once for a similar reason. It just becomes too much, definitely in a small work environment.
